Greetings from the beautiful city of Split, Croatia! This coastal city was the proud host of BlockSplit4, an international conference that served as a melting pot of innovation, collaboration, and, above all, a shared passion for blockchain. Web3 startups, developers, researchers, investors, and designers from all corners of the globe came to redefine the future of blockchain technology. As an intern at Calimero and a proud participant of this remarkable event, I had the privilege to experience the vibrant buzz of the conference, network with brilliant minds, and also showcase Calimero from the frontline – our booth.
As I stood there at the booth, I’ve felt the energy around, buzzing with anticipation and possibilities, much like a beehive brimming with activity. The sun-kissed weather of Split added an extra charm, turning the conference into an extravaganza of knowledge sharing, networking, and yes, a good dose of fun. Conferences may have a reputation for being monotonous, but BlockSplit4 was anything but that.
Calimero was lucky enough to share our booth with the awesome Near Balkans and Tekuno teams. It was like a mini-community within the conference, where we bonded over our shared love for blockchain and NEAR. We strengthened our bonds, showcased our projects, and even sparked a few lightbulb moments along the way. Collaboration was the name of the game, and boy, did it feel good to be a part of such a dynamic crew!
The excitement reached new heights as our CEO, Sandi, took the stage for a captivating panel discussion on “Building a Successful Web3 Startup.” With an electric atmosphere buzzing around us, Sandi’s expertise and vision left the audience in awe. The panel was very useful for all the startups that gathered to compete in the startup competition. Meanwhile, the spotlight shifted to our brilliant head of the core team, Igor, as he educated the crowd with his talk on “Privacy Preserving Bridging using zero knowledge on NEAR and Calimero”. Igor’s groundbreaking revelation about the trustless and realistic NEAR to Calimero bridge left everyone feeling inspired and curious about the possibilities that Calimero brings to the table.
Hold on to your hats, folks! The startup competition at BlockSplit 2023 was off the charts. I’ve witnessed a frenzy of pitches, with ambitious entrepreneurs competing for the top spot. And guess what? Our CEO took on the role of a judge. He brought his A-game, evaluating the pitches, and giving his expert insights. It was like being in the ring with the best of the best, and the energy was electrifying!
BlockSplit 2023 wasn't just about business and competition. Web3 folks know how to have a good time too! Networking events, casual meetups, and let's not forget the epic boat trip on the final day. We laughed, we connected, and we created memories that will last a lifetime. The blockchain community isn't just about work - it's about forging genuine connections and supporting each other on this exciting journey.
BlockSplit 2023 has been a phenomenal experience for me. Every moment spent at the conference was enriching - from standing at the booth and pitching Calimero, to forging new alliances, seeing startup competitions, and of course, the unforgettable boat party. The sense of community we experienced during these three days was amazing, reminding us that the blockchain is not just about codes and algorithms, but also about people and connections.
As we leave Split and head back to our respective workstations, we do so with a head full of ideas, a heart full of memories, and a renewed motivation to shape the future with blockchain. Here's to BlockSplit4, to all the people we met, and the ones we'll meet in the future. Until then, let's continue to imagine, innovate, and inspire. See you at the next BlockSplit!
